Tragedy Strikes Bihar: North East Express Derails, Leaving Many in Disarray

In a shocking turn of events, the idyllic district of Buxar in Bihar witnessed a devastating train accident that shook the lives of many on a fateful Wednesday evening. The incident, which occurred near the Raghunathpur station, saw more than 12 coaches of the 12506 Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derail, resulting in six fatalities and nearly 100 injuries. The incident unfolded around 9:35 pm, close to the Raghunathpur station, sending shockwaves through the region. The injured were swiftly transported to hospitals in Ara, Buxar, and Patna, with premier medical facilities like PMCH, AIIMS, and IGIMS in the state capital gearing up to provide essential care to those in need.

Trains canceled included the Patna-Puri Special, Sasaram-Ara Special, Bhabua Road Express Special, Patna-DDU Memu Pass Special, and Patna-Buxar Memu Pass Special. Additionally, two trains were partially canceled: Patna-DDU Express, which would run up to Ara, and DDU-Patna Express, which would also halt at Ara. Several trains were diverted onto alternative routes to minimize the disruption caused by the derailment.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured the public that rescue operations were in full swing at the site of the Buxar derailment. "Rescue operation going on at war footing at Buxar derailment site. NDRF, SDRF, District administration, Railway officials, and local residents are all working as one team. Injured shifted to the hospital. War room operating," he conveyed through X, formerly known as Twitter.

Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav sprang into action by contacting the district magistrate and SP of Buxar and Arrah. He directed them to make prompt arrangements for the injured passengers and dispatch the concerned officers to the incident site as swiftly as possible, ensuring that necessary aid was provided to those affected.
